How to cross the international Ekok suspension bridge?

Ekok bridge is a continuous concrete box girder deck with six spans on the Cross river, located on the Cameroon-Nigeria border. It’s one of the most spectacular bridges in the world.

When was the Ekok suspension bridge built?

Built in 1970, the international bridge on the Cameroon -Nigeria Border in Ekok-Mfum is 403m long over the Cross River. The bridge replaced a suspension bridge built in the 1950s.

Is the Ekok suspension bridge still in use?

The area is dangerous with conflicts between Cameroon's military and armed separatists. In 2020 it was bypassed by a newer paved bridge (the Nigeria/Cameroon Joint Border Bridge), carrying the N6 road.
