Wolkefit Pass, a roller coaster ride in Ethiopia

The Wolkefit Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 3.250m (10,662ft) above the sea level located in the Semien Mountains, in northern Ethiopia. 

The pass, also known as Uolchefit or Wilkifit, it’s the highest point through the Semien Mountains, part of the Ethiopian Highlands. It’s one of the most famous mountain passes of Ethiopia, leads from the Semien mountains down into the valley and it’s located in a road with manyhairpins, felling like reaching the top of a roller-coaster ride. The road to reach the pass is gravel, and it’s located in the road between Gondar and Axum, in a very scenic part of Ethiopia. Built by the Italians in the 1930’s this road number 30 descends nearly 2000 meters. Described as ”the most dramatic road in Africa” in it entirety continuous, curving and switchback upon switchback and then climbing again up in hairpin bends.
