Revenue Mountain
Revenue Mountain is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 3.725m (12,221ft) above the sea level, located in Clear Creek County, in the U.S. state of Colorado. It’s one of the highest mountain roads of Colorado.
The road to the summit, located within the Mosquito Range of the Rocky Mountains, is gravel with some rocky sections. It is very bumpy and muddy at spots. It is impassable in winters. Avalanches, heavy snowfalls and landslides can occur anytime. It’s a real challenging road and a true test of your vehicle and your stamina. 4wd vehicle required. Check weather forecasts before leaving home, and remember that it becomes cooler and often more prone to storms at higher elevations.
The peak sits on the Great Divide. The road follows numerous remnants of Colorado's mining heritage. Located on the Great Divide, the climb offers some amazing views toward two most hiked 14eers in Colorado, Greys Peak and Torreys Peak. There are several spots along the road where you can park if you do not want/dare to go on any further.
