Punta Callán is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 4.228m (13,871ft) above the sea level, located in the Ancash Region of Peru.
Set high in the Cordillera Negra mountain range, the road to the summit is fully paved. It’s called Carretera 14A and it is one of the windiest roads ever made. With thousands of turns, avoid the road if you’re prone to car sickness. The road has wonderful views of the peaks in the Cordillera Blanca.
The pass is 83.1 km (51.63 miles) long, running east-west from Huaraz to Pariacoto. It’s the highest point of this paved road and then drops off to sea level at the Pacific near Casma.
