Cañón del Chicamocha is a steep sided canyon located in the departments of Boyacá and Santander, in Colombia.
Tucked away on the northeastern part of the country, the road through the canyon carved by the Chicamocha River is totally paved. It’s called Ruta Nacional 45A. The toll road is pretty challenging, with steep parts and countless turns. With a maximum depth of 2,000 metres (6,600 ft), it’s said to be the second-largest canyon worldwide.
Located within the Chicamocha National Park, also known as Panachi, in the Andes mountains, the road through the canyon is 41.0 km (25.47 miles) long, running north-south from Los Curos to Aratoca.
