Tunel San Rafael
Located in the La Paz Department, in Bolivia, the San Rafael Tunnel is one of the highest tunnels in the world, at an elevation of 3.040m (9,973ft) above the sea level.
Located in the Cordillera Real in the Andes, the tunnel lies on the Ruta 3 (Cotapata-Santa Bárbara road). It was built from 2001 to 2004. The tunnel is 1,374 meters long. Speed limit is 40 kph. The road to the tunnel is asphalted with some short gravel sections.
