Adventure along Condor Pass

Paso del Condor is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 4.730m (15,518ft) above the sea level, located in Potosí, a department in southwestern Bolivia. It's one of the highest mountain roads of the country.

The pass lies on the road between Laguna Blanca (18kms) and Polques (19kms) and is located in the Salvador Dalí Desert, also known as Dalí Valley in southwestern Bolivia. The desert is characterized by landscapes that resemble surrealist paintings by Salvador Dalí. The surface of the road is sand and gravel. The gradient of the road when coming from Laguna Blanca is never steep, the surface is not too bad and there are good views looking back to Lagunas Blanca and Verde and many volcanoes including Licancabur and Juriques. This trail passes through remote areas, so you need to be prepared. The surface on the descent is worse (though if going in the opposite direction it’s still easily rideable), but the strange Piedras de Dali rock formations are not far off the road to the east. 4x4 vehicle required.
