A journey on the legendary Camino de los Puentes Colgantes in Cordoba

Camino de los Puentes Colgantes (Hang Suspension Bridges Road) is a very scenic drive located in Córdoba Province in Argentina, running through mountains, and gorges by suspension bridges.

Camino de los Puentes Colgantes

Located within the Parque Nacional Quebrada del Condorito, the drive (known as Vieja Ruta Provincial 14) is 22.9km (14.22 miles) long, running from El Condor to Copina.

The road is mostly unpaved and travels through 5 very narrow wooden suspension bridges (hence its name) erected across mountain streams. Today, only 4 bridges are in use. The construction of the road started in 1915 and opened to vehicular traffic on 22nd October, 1918. A burned truck marks the start of the road.

Located in the Sierras Grandes range, a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. It’s a classic road for mountain motor races (Grand Prix, Rally Argentina-World Rally Car-WRC). In 1987, the picturesque road proved insufficient for modern traffic and was bypassed by a modern paved road, called Camino de las Altas Cumbres (Ruta Provincial 34).
