Cuernavaca-Acapulco Highway or Highway 95D, better known as Autopista del Sol (“Highway of the sun”), is a toll road, along the Mexico-Cuernavaca highway, connecting the city of Mexico to the port of Acapulco, Guerrero, heading north-south.
Together, these two highways serve as a toll road parallel to Highway 95 (Mexico-Acapulco).

The highway has a total length of 262,5 kilometers from the city of Cuernavaca, Morelos, to the port of Acapulco, Guerrero. Its construction began on August 30th, 1989, was completed in 1993 and finally opened the same year. It's one of the most dangerous roads in Mexico, according to the number of casualties and crashes along the road.

Due the topography and climatic conditions on the region, there are landslides along the road, especially during periods of rain.
The Highway of the sun, regarded as the most expensive in the country, has been the last years the scene of clashes between organized crime groups, and dump bodies.Over the past three years, according to reports from the Public Security sources, have been found around 50 bodies, most have been thrown still alive from the Solidarity Bridge, located on the stretch Paso Morelos Chilpancingo, which has a height of 160 meters and a length of more than 9 miles. The same happened in El Zapote Bridge, at mile 253.

Another point that lately began to be identified as highly dangerous is the one that stands up to water Obispo, near the first tunnel section-Acapulco Chilpancingo. At nights there are groups of gunmen, robbing motorists, vehicles and trucks.
