The Sairécabur volcanic group is a volcanic chain directly south of the Putana Volcano, on the border between Bolivia and Chile.

Uturuncu, or Uturunku, the highest summit in southwestern Bolivia, is a stratovolcano. It displays young well-preserved lava flows at its summit which were erupted during the Pleistocene period. The volcano also shows fumarolic activity.

The CH21 road, in the region of Antofagasta, links the cities of Calama and Ollagüe, in the border between Chile and Bolivia. Once in Bolivia, the road is called Ruta BO-5.

The Darien Gap is the one break in the Pan-American Highway, meaning that overland travel across Central America is pretty much impossible. This 60 mile gap without roads has been successfully crossed a handful of times - usually by expeditions equipped with off-road vehicles and staffed by special forces types. Attempts to bridge the gap with a road have stalled, because of environmental protest or concern that an overland route may expose North America to foot and mouth disease from South American cattle.

The North Yungas Road is by far the most dangerous on the planet, so dangerous that it has earned the epithet of ‘Death Road’. The road covers a 70km stretch between La Paz and Coroico over a decent of 3,600m with ridiculously tight hairpins and narrow passages to navigate, all whilst trying to avoid a sheer 800m drop.
