Forest Road 040
Forest Road 040 is a high mountain road located in Duchesne County, Utah, United States. It’s one of the highest roads of Utah running entirely over 3.100m above the sea level.
Located in the Ashley National Forest, the road is gravel, rocky and treacherous in parts. It’s 3.54km (2.2 miles) long. 4wd vehicle required. Only travel on this road when it is dry. Altitude and extreme weather are always a factor at any time of year.
The road is impassable from October to June. Its highest elevation is at 3.243m (10,639ft) above the sea level. The wind is usually quite strong at mountain areas. High winds blow here all year long. Even in summer you can confront with snowy days. Temperatures here in the winter are brutally cold.
