Is the road to Sheep Mountain in Park County unpaved?

Set high in the Beartooth range, the road to the summit is totally unpaved. It’s an old mining road. 4x4 vehicle required. It’s usually impassable from November to May. Near the summit are only a few historic ruins left from the New World Mining District. The summit provides tremendous and varied views of the Beartooth Mountains in all directions.

It’s a pretty steep trail. Starting from US-212 (Beartooth Highway) the ascent is 13.35km (8.3 miles) long.
