The 2-lane road is totally paved. It is a 17-mile (27 km)-long scenic loop. The trip began as a carriage road for guests at Monterey's Hotel del Monte in the early 1880s and runs through Pacific Grove to Pebble Beach, from the dramatic Pacific coastline to the majestic Del Monte Forest. Motorcycles are prohibited.

This is a remarkable road trip featuring awe-inspiring sights along the way. Plan 2-3 hours to complete the drive. Remember to bring your camera. Make sure you leave enough time to make plenty of stops along the way. The best time to take the 17-Mile Drive is fall or spring.
