Travelling the scenic Road Mexico 16

Mexico 16 (Chihuahua-Hermosillo road) is one of the most scenic or boring roads at the same time in northern Mexico, because it has beautiful pine forest and desert sceneries in the same route and boring because it’s a too long road offering almost same views.

Mexico 16

This is the only road communicating two major cities in Mexico, Chihuahua state capital with the same name and Hermosillo, Sonora's state capital, between both cities it’s at least 11 hours of scenic driving. One of the most interesting attractions near or next to this highway is Basaseachi falls National Park, Mexico's highest falls into one location, Basaseachi (second tallest) and Piedra Volada highest fall but inaccessible. It’s a must go of National Parks in Mexico, it has great views of canyons and falls combined.

This road can be dangerous due its long distance between major towns, little traffic, and prone to bad weather conditions as like rain, snow and fog and probably sleepless drivers, driving long hauling from either of the major cities. Don't miss the overlook of Basaseachi falls near this road in direction to Creel, it’s a secondary point of the national park.
