Cerro el Potosí is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 3.721m (12,208ft) above the sea level, located in Nuevo León state, in Mexico. It’s one of the highest roads of the country.
Embedded within the Sierra Madre Oriental Range, the journey to the peak requires a venture on an entirely unpaved road. Initially crafted in the 1960s to facilitate the development of a microwave relay station at the summit, it's a route strictly for 4x4 vehicles due to its rugged nature.
Located in the northeastern region of Mexico, the ascent to Cerro Potosí commences from Dieciocho de Marzo, spanning a distance of 27.6 km (17.14 miles). Throughout this climb, adventurers will experience an elevation gain of 1,724m, averaging a gradient of 6.24%. However, before embarking on this challenging journey, always consult the weather forecast, as the region is often susceptible to unpredictable conditions.
