A challenging 4x4 road to Laguna Salada

The road is gravel and extremely narrow. 4x4 required, especially after rains. Heavy or prolonged rain can cause local flash floods that cover the road with water or wash out culverts or bridges. The road is 44,7km long. It starts in Chetumal, the capital of the state of Quintana Roo, and ends abruptly after the lagoon. The road is certainly breathtaking and it has a fearsome reputation. The road stretches along the coastline down to Belize. The road is difficult and it’s a nightmare in the wet or dark (or both). Some chapters of Naked and Afraid serie were filmed on this zone.
