Beginning off Hwy 154 near Los Olivos, Figueroa Mountain Road winds and climbs into Los Padres National Forrest (USA).
Figueroa Mountain is a summit in Santa Barbara County in the U.S. state of California. It is in the San Rafael Mountains, part of the Transverse Rangesgroup of ranges. The mountain is located in Los Padres National Forest.
Figueroa Mountain was named for a member of the well-known southern California family, the most eminent of whom was José Figueroa, governor of Alta California in 1833-35.
Figueroa Mountain Rd is on the north side of Hwy 154. It is 5.25 miles from the Hwy 246 (Santa Ynez/Solvang exit), and 2.85 miles from the north end at Hwy 101. Signage for the exit is well marked. Figueroa is a very steep climb. There are some sections where it lets up and you can recover for a bit, but those sections don't seem to be nearly plentiful enough when you're riding it.
Once you hit the initial pine tree-line the road conditions deteriorate a little. Be careful for some gravel buildup directly in the center of the road. It does not build up much on the sides, but the middle of the road can be like a gravel divider.
