The highway over the Kamchik pass will be renovated

E-mail Print PDF

Republican Road Fund of Uzbekistan is going to allocate 117 billion soums for the reconstruction of 60-km section of A-373 highway linking Tashkent with Osh.
In particular it is planned to carry out reconstruction works on the length between the 108th and 208th kilometers in Akhangaran district of Tashkent Province and Pap district of Namangan Province.
The highway, which runs via the Kamchik pass, is one of the major transport arteries of Uzbekistan. It links the regions of the country with the Ferghana Valley.
The highway was constructed in the mountains at the height of more than 2000 metres above sea level and runs through tunnels under Kamchik and Rezak mountain passes.
In order to brisk up the freight traffic via the Kamchik pass, in January last year there was set up the international logistics centre “Angren” on the basis of Ablyk railway station. This year it is planned to enhance the centre capacity of container cargo processing. Moreover, the centre will be equipped with bolster-type tractors “MAN” manufactured at Samarkand automotive plant.
