Uzungöl Lake is a mountain lake at an elevation of 1.125m (3,690ft) above the sea level located south of the city of Trabzon, in Trabzon Province, in the Black Sea region of Turkey.
The high mountain road to the lake is totally unpaved and pretty defiant, with dangerous drop offs and 19 hairpin turns. It’s totally unpaved but navigable by most of the passenger vehicles. The road is 40.9 km (25.41 miles) long, starting and ending at the infamous Bayburt Of Yolu-D915.
To drive the road without stopping will take most people between 1.2 and 2 hours. The surrounding greenery of the mountain forests and fog, occasionally enveloping the lake at night, also add to the scenery. Near the lake there’s a village with hotels, restaurants, and souvenir shops. The road tops out at 2.496m (8,188ft) above the sea level, by Şekersu Yaylası.
