The road to Kus Yuvasi Pass will take your breath away

Kuş Yuvası is a mountain pass at an elevation of 1,388m (4,553ft) above sea level, located in the District of Alanya of Antalya Province, in the Mediterranean Region of Turkey.

Set high in the Taurus Mountains, the road to the summit is totally paved but in pretty bad condition due to poor weather and rock slides that have definitely blocked parts of the road. The road is 2.8 km (1.73 miles) long.

Is Kuş Yuvası Pass dangerous?

The road is extreme. On one side, you’ll have the canyon walls; on the other, nothing, just the abyss. It has sheer drops on one side and stones on the other, featuring very sharp hairpin turns. Known by locals as "a road of death," it is a tough road where many have died in the past and many vehicles have ended up at the bottom of cliffs. Some sections of the road are narrower than 1 meter. Loose gravel on this road is also a hazard; add this to the fact that the road winds narrowly around cliff edges with no barriers, and you have a recipe for trouble.

Can I drive to Kuş Yuvası Pass?

Due to its dangerousness, the road was recently closed, and it’s being bypassed by tunnels. Authorities have already built 10 tunnels, and 10 more will be finished by 2022. The Bird's Nest now has a total of 8 kilometers of tunnels that take the route farther away from the cliffs. However, even the new road has many turns and is considerably dangerous, especially for inexperienced riders.
