Clue de Barles is a canyon with dramatic views located in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department of France. It’s one of the most scenic French balcony roads.
The gorges are located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, in the southeastern corner of France, north of Digne-les-Bains.
The road through the canyon, carved by Le Bes river, is totally paved but extremely challenging. It’s called D900A.
The road is 31.7 km (19.69 miles) long, running south-north from Digne-les-Bains to Verdaches.
This amazing road through the clue, also known as Clue de Saint-Clément, is carved into the mountainside. The drive is brutally narrow in parts. Along the road, there are several signs about the limited maximum height of the road, ranging from 2.8m to 3.2m. High risk of rock slides.
Located in the Bès valley, north of Clue du Pérouré, to drive the road without stopping will take most people between 40 and 50 minutes.
