Route 34: an amazing drive in the island of Suðuroy

Route 34 is an amazing journey in the heart of the island of Suðuroy in the Faroe Islands.

Route 34

The road runs south-north from Trongisvágur, a village in the bottom of Trongisvágsfjørður on the east coast of the island to Sandvík (previously known as Hvalvík), the northernmost village of the island.

The road is totally paved. It’s 15,8km (9,81 miles) long. Along the route there are 2 long tunnels. One of them is called Hvalbiartunnilin: it was the first road tunnel built in the island. It’s closed to vehicles up to 3,2m height and 2,5 m width.
