Goldeck-Panoramastraße is a very scenic mountain drive located in Carinthia, in Austria. It offers breathtaking views of the Carinthian mountains and valleys. It’s one of the scenic Austrian Alpine roads.
Tucked away on the southern part of Austria, the toll road is totally paved. It’s 14.5 km (9 miles) long, running from Zlan to the Parkplatz Seetal, a car park at 1,895m (6,217ft) above sea level.
Built over 60 years ago, it's a very pleasant drive. The road has 10 hairpin turns. The maximum gradient is 10%. It can be cold up there, so keep clothing in mind.
Set high in the eastern Alps, the road is open from early/mid-May to mid/late October, from 8:30 to 17:00.
To drive the road without stopping will take most people between 15 and 25 minutes. The drive is always a special experience with extraordinarily beautiful views of numerous alpine summits. The parking lot offers a view of the nearby Staff summit, the Gailtal Alps, and the Karawanken.
