Lagunas de Neila, at an elevation of 1.900m above the sea level, is the name of a collection of high mountain lakes in the Sierra de Urbión, located in the Spanish province of Burgos.
The maximum grade of the road, (called BU-822), is 17 percent.
To reach the summit there are 3 possible routes. Starting from Quintanar, the Laguna Negra de Neila ascent is 16 km long. Over this distance, you climb 768 heightmeters. The average percentage is thus 4.8 %. tarting from Huerta de Abajo, the Laguna Negra de Neila ascent is 22 km long. Over this distance, you climb 749 heightmeters. The average percentage is thus 3.4 %. And starting from Neila, the Laguna Negra de Neila ascent is 10 km long. Over this distance, you climb 726 heightmeters. The average percentage is thus 7.3 %.
The climb is one of the most famous in the Spanish Vuelta a Burgos.
