TF-21 is one of the most spectacular roads in Europe. Located in the island of Tenerife, in the Canarias Island (Spain) the road reaches the Teide National Park.
TF-21 crosses the island from corner to corner and takes 2.650m. With a little off-road lane, you can get 2.700m and approaching a little more to the Teide peak.
Situated on the island of Tenerife, Teide National Park features the Teide-Pico Viejo stratovolcano that, at 3.718 m, is the highest peak on Spanish soil. Rising 7,500 m above the ocean floor, it is regarded as the world’s third-tallest volcanic structure and stands in a spectacular environment. The visual impact of the site is all the greater due to atmospheric conditions that create constantly changing textures and tones in the landscape and a ‘sea of clouds’ that forms a visually impressive backdrop to the mountain. Teide is of global importance in providing evidence of the geological processes that underpin the evolution of oceanic islands.
TF-21 is an absolutely beautiful road, with many different turns and twists, almost without traffic, which starts in Cuesta de la Villa, and finishes in Granadilla de Abona, with a total length of 81.5km. Due the turns, hairpins and climbs, the average speed is around 60km/h, and the road is closed sometimes due to hail and icy patches.
Between the junctions with TF-24 and TF-38, the TF-21 road goes for 21km over the altitude of 2.000m.
