Federal Highway M18 is one of the great drives in the world. It’s a 1.340 km road linking Saint Petersburg and Murmansk, in Russia.

The road is asphalted. It has a lot of heavy trafic. It’s also known as R21 highway and Kola Motorway. The road is part of the E105 European route. It’s usually kept open all year round. It’s the main transportation route by road in the Republic of Karelia and the Murmansk Oblast. Due its unique location and passing through remote areas, it is important when driving in these conditions to be prepared. It passes the Arctic circle a couple of kilometers south of the border of Karelia and the Murmansk oblast, north of Loukhi.
