The road to Wolf's Lair, Hitler's headquarter in WWII

Hidden deep in a Polish forest, into the Masuria region, Wolf's Lair was Adolf Hitler's first Eastern Front military headquarters in World War II.

Built in 1941, the headquarters were located near the town of Rastenburg in East Prussia (now the town of Kętrzyn in Poland). The top-secret site was in the Masurian woods. The Nazi dictator spent 850 days at the complex in 1941-1944, before withdrawing to his Berlin bunker. On 20 July 1944, Claus von Stauffenberg attempted to assassinate Adolf Hitler with a bomb insidde the bunker. The attempt, dramatically recreated in the Tom Cruise movie Valkyrie, very nearly succeeded.

Located in northeast Poland, the road to the Adolf Hitler's primary command headquarters on the Eastern Front is totally paved. Starting from the paved 592 Road, the drive is 6 km long. In the past, Wolf’s Lair looked like a hidden town with nearly 200 buildings.
