Georgia

Abano Pass

Abano Pass is a high mountain pass located in the region of Tusheti, Georgia, in the central part of the Great Caucasus Mountains, at an elevation of 2,850 metres (9,350 ft) above the sea level. Abano Pass is the highest drivable mountain pass in the Caucasus. The pass is driveable only by 4x4 cars. Conditions can change quickly and be harsh. Road closures can be frequent, so check conditions before traveling to this area.

David Gareja Monastery

Located in Kakheti, southeast of Tbilisi near the Azerbaijan border, the David Gareja Monastery is a rock-hewn Georgian Orthodox monastery complex. It’s perhaps the most remarkable of all Georgia's ancient sites.

Pereval Zagar

Zagar Pass (also known as Zagari Pass) is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.620m (8,595ft) above the sea level, located in the Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region of northwestern Georgia.

 

Datvisjvari Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.689m (8,822ft) above the sea level, located in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of eastern Georgia.

 

Sabaduri Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 1.445m (4,740ft) above the sea level, located within the Tbilisi National Park, in Georgia.

Jvari pass

Jvari pass (also known as Krestovy Pereval or Cross Pass) is a high mountain pass, at an elevation of 2.379m (7,815ft) above the sea level, located between Tbilisi (Georgia) and Vladikavkaz (Russia) on the Georgian Military Road. The pass is located on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range in Georgia, situated in the Stepantsminda District.

 

Kazbegi tunnel is an international high mountain tunnel at an elevation of 1.282m above the sea level, located on the northern slopes of the mighty Caucasus range, on the Russia-Georgia border.

Zekari pass

Zekari pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.174m (7,132ft) above the sea level, located on the border of Imereti and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions, in Georgia.

 

The Rikoti Pass is a mountain pass at an elevation of 996 metres (3,268 feet) above the sea level, located in the Greater Caucasus in Georgia’s Shida Kartli region.

Georgian Military Road

The Georgian Military Road, part of the E117 road, is a highlight to any trip to Georgia, and one of South Caucasus' most scenic roads, steeped in trade, wars, and legends. This ancient passage across the Caucasus towards Vladikavkaz in Russia is a spectacular adventure.

 

Pereval Akhuk-Dara is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.104m (6,902ft) above the sea level located in the Caucasus Mountains of Georgia.

 

Tikmataji Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.171m (7,122ft) above the sea level, located on the border of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli subdivisions of southern Georgia.

Roki Tunnel

Roki Tunnel is an international high mountain tunnel at an elevation of 2.130m above the sea level, located in the Caucasus Mountains, a mountain system in Eurasia between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea in the Caucasus region. The tunnel is traversed by the Transcaucasian Highway.

Latpari pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.834m (9,297ft) above the sea level, located in Svaneti province, in the northwestern part of Georgia. Drive with care as this is a mountain road with hairpin curves and dangerous dropoffs.

 

Located in the region of Svaneti, at the head of the Enguri gorge in Svaneti, Georgia, Ushguli is the highest continuously inhabited settlement in Europe at an elevation of 2,410 metres (7,910 ft) above the sea level.

Tskhratskaro Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.471m (8,106ft) above the sea level, located in the Samtskhe–Javakheti region, in southern Georgia.

 

Goderdzi Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.027m (6,650ft) above the sea level located in the Ajara Autonomous Republic, in southern Georgia.

Gombori pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 1.639m (5,377ft) above the sea level, located in the Kakheti region of eastern Georgia.
