Hongshi Highway is a very defiant drive located in Shiping County, in the Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture in the southern part of the Yunnan province of China.
Where does Hongshi Highway start and end?
The hanging road, also known as Shihong Expressway, G5615, is fully paved and runs from the Jishi Expressway (in southern Shiping County) to Yuyuan Expressway (in Honglongchang, Yuanjiang County). Running through mountainous areas, it’s said to be one of the most defiant roads of the country, as the drive features steep cross slopes, undulating terrain, large relative height difference, and complex geological conditions.
How long is Hongshi Highway?
The road opened to traffic on December 31, 2015. It’s 54.8 kilometers (34.05 miles) long. The construction of this line has far-reaching significance for the development of natural resources, economic development and improvement of people's livelihood. Some sections of road have a lot of subgrade engineering, high slopes, lots of debris, bad geology, and many bridges require a lot of investment, which poses great challenges.
