Ultimate 4wd destination: Wakan Village

Wakan Village is a high mountain town at an elevation of 2.000m (6,561ft) above the sea level in the Western Hajar Mountains of Oman. The mountainous road to the town is narrow and steep. It should only be attempted in a 4WD car.

The road to the summit has humbled many egos. It’s not for the sissies and shouldn’t be attempted by novice drivers. It’s unpaved for the last 25km. A 4WD with reduction gear is necessary because the last few kilometres consist of rough track with steep and sharp bends. There is a small area for car parking.

Drive with care as this is a mountain road with hairpin curves and dangerous dropoffs. You might want to take this into consideration if you have passengers that don't like heights. Be prepared, this road is not for the faint of heart or ill prepared. One mistake can have serious consequences.
