Driving the wild Shibar Pass

Kōtal-e Shibar is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 3.000m (9,843ft) above the sea level, located in the Koh-e-Baba mountains of central Afghanistan.

The road to the summit is mostly paved. It’s called Bamiyan Charikar Hwy (A77) and can be closed anytime due the snow. Drive with care as this is a mountain road with hairpin curves and dangerous dropoffs. You might want to take this into consideration if you have passengers that don't like heights. Be prepared, this road is not for the faint of heart or ill prepared. One mistake can have serious consequences.
