How long is the International Coastal Road?

The road, also known as Route 40M, is totally paved. It’s 758 km (470 miles) long running east-west from Port Said (a city at the northern end of the Suez Canal, on the Mediterranean Sea) to Sallum, a harbourside village along the Egypt/Libyan border.

How long does it take to drive the International Coastal Road?

The winding coastal road can be busy in summer time and holidays. Plan about 10-11 hours to complete the drive. The road was officially opened in 2002 by President Husni Mubarak. Along the road, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea.
